Especially for people in the modeling industry, acne can be very troublesome. There are other non traditional options like surgery which can be used to treat acne of such severity. When people think of cosmetic surgery, their mind immediately goes to changing your C’s to D’s. This is not entirely true. Cosmetic surgery helps a lot of people live normal lives. The cosmetic options present with relation to acne are:

  1. Chemical Peels: Chemicals are available today which when applied stick to the top layer of the skin. This layer, which has all the acne scars and depression marks can be peeled off to reveal skin with a more even tone and color. This is best in treating superficial scars on the skin. A cosmetic surgeon applies the chemicals with utmost care starting from the forehead and moving down evenly to the cheeks and chin. Assortments of chemicals are available for different depths if application and different depths take different healing time.
  1. Laser Skin Resurfacing: Superficial acne and surface scars can also be removed by using high intensity light which vaporizes the top layer of your skin. This process allows new skin to develop in the same place.
  1. Dermabrasion: This is a cosmetic procedure which is useful in removing scars when they are raised above the skin’s surface. This is done using a laser these days. A laser is used to remove the top surface of the skin by abrasion or sanding. It is comparatively painful process and the need for a general anesthesia is high. It is done when the patient is partly conscious. The skin once removed, looks raw and it takes a couple of months before new skin grows back on it.
  1. Microdermabrasion: Cell growth is stimulated when tiny particles are passed through vacuum tubes to remove the top layer of the skin gently. If you have mild scarring, then you can opt for this procedure since it gives the best results.
  1. Soft Tissue Augmentation: Injectable filler is used in this procedure. This is used for shallow scars. These fillers stimulate the collagen produced by the body and repair the area around the scar. The fillers can be present in the body for almost six years.
